Local Jewelry Designer Spotlight

Amy Leff is a local jewelry artist, designer and metal smith. Her feminine handcrafted pieces have become a favorite of many of our customers. Pictured above are a few of her new pieces that we just got in. On the left is a sterling silver tulip necklace ($110). In the middle is mixed metal necklace that features a sterling silver square inside a gold-filled circle on a sterling silver chain($65) and matching small round gold-filled earrings ($65). Finally, on the right is a sterling silver gold-filled 2 tone dropping leaf necklace on a gold-filled chain ($115) paired with matching gold-filled leaf earrings ($65).

Amy says, “Throwing Stars Jewelry is a reflection about where I am in my life. I’m a working mom, and when I throw on clothes in the morning, I don’t have much time to think accessories. And that’s my business, jewelry! Usually, jewelry is the last thing on my mind while I’m trying to run out the door in the morning.”

“The jewelry I design is meant to be worn with practically everything, whether it’s a sweater and skinny jeans, a suit, or even something fun for cocktails. I’d even argue you can wear a bunch of pieces working out, if that floats your boat!”

Amy’s description of her line is perfect and if her story sounds similar to yours I’m sure you will adore all of her different pieces. If you are in love with any of the ones above and would like to place an order please call me at (678) 309-9550.

White in the winter?

Wearing white before Memorial Day is NOT a fashion crime! Just look at Liz Hurley in the picture above. She is wearing white 7 for all Mankind jeans in the middle of December. So go ahead and wear white jeans all year long. In the winter pair them with a gray sweater or deep jewel tones like burgundy and cognac boots. For a classier look add a black sweater and black boots. If your packing up your suitcase and heading to a warmer destination anytime soon make sure you throw in some bright colored tops to go with your white jeans and a pair of flip flops. Pictured above is an assortment of white jeans that we just got in. From the left we have Joe’s petite fit Provocateur Boot-cut ($158), Hudson’s Signature Boot-cut ($165), 7 for all Mankind’s Boot-cut ($169) and Joe’s curvy fit Honey Boot-cut ($158).

New from Free People

We just got in a new shipment from Free People that I am in love with and had to share with you! All the pieces have a very earthy yet classy vibe. These tops are great for the transition from winter to spring. You can layer them now with long sleeves underneath or a cute shrug on top to stay warm. In the summer all of these new tops will look so cute with shorts or cropped jeans and gladiator sandals. Check them all out in the picture above!

On the left is Free Peoples Farmer's Daughter Top . The crochet flower detailing on the back of this button-down adds even more style to it.

NY Fashion Week

I just found out that on February 16th William Rast will be making its first appearance under the infamous big white tent in Bryant Park. For those of you that don’t already know William Rast is one of the many denim lines we carry here at HIP and the designers behind the brand are none other then Justin Timberlake and his good friend Trace Ayala. Showing at Bryant Park during NY fashion week is a great accomplishment for both of them! I have personally been a fan since the line first launched a few years ago. Their jeans have the coolest pockets and they will defiantly bring your sexy back. Did I mention that they are really comfy too? Click here to check out the different styles we have available for you or just come by the store.

Starr Luna

New shipment from Starr Luna! A local artist from Sandy Springs designs this line that is full of artsy, vintage inspired graphic tees and thermals. A few of the new pieces we have received are pictured above. On the left is the short sleeve “be the change” orange burnout ($46). In the center is the camo long sleeve thermal with a cross ($58). Then on the right is the short sleeve cherry burnout tee ($46). To give the tops a more soulful, inspirational feel, the saying “live with no regrets” is printed on the back of every tee. Buy more then one and layer them to get different looks. The long sleeve camo thermal under the orange tee is one of my favorite combos.

The Boyfriend Cardigan

The Boyfriend Cardigan is a must have for winter and spring. It has already been in both Instyle and People “Style Watch” this month. It can be warn many different ways. Couple the cardi with skinny jeans for a sophisticated look or for a more casual look pair it with some comfy leggings. Then when it starts to get a little warmer out pair it with cutoff shorts. We just got in two different versions of the Boyfriend Cardigan pictured above. On the left Free People added gold and silver studs along the edges to spice up its Rockin Rugby Cardi in stone and ivory ($108). Then on the right, as always, Micheal Stars opted to keep it classic with its Striped Cardigan in black and heather ($78).

Denim Wardrobe Essentials

A question that many of our customers ponder over is… What assortment of jeans should I have in my closet?
Well today I have the answer for you. There are four different styles of jeans everyone should have in their closet, these are pictured clockwise above and are the straight leg, trouser, skinny and bootcut jean.

1) For a classic pair that you can dress up or down with heels or flats go for a straight leg like True Religions Johnny Stretch ($172 pictured in Lone Star).
2) Another necessity is a trouser jean just like 7 for All Mankind’s Dojo Jean ($155 pictured in New York Dark). You can substitute this jean for dress pants and wear them into the office.
3) For a night out on the town skinny jeans are a must! Pair them with sexy heels, flats, or tuck them into your boots. One of our favorite skinny jeans is J Brands Scarlett fit ($160 pictured in Dark Vintage).
4) To complete your denim wardrobe you need a pair of super comfy boot cut jeans for the weekends just like Citizens of Humanity’s Kelly Bootcut ($158 pictured in Pacific).
